Getting rich isn’t easy and there is no real set formula for it. In the world of social media, especially Instagram, there are a number of influencers who make serious money from their posts. Becoming an influencer – certainly one who makes the big bucks – doesn’t just happen overnight and a lot of time and effort will have to be put in.
Even influencers who have reached the dizzy heights of the top earners on social media might have relied on a combination of good luck and hard work. Others will have had a strategy which they worked hard to implement, although not everyone who tried this will have become rich. The point is that there is no definite recipe for becoming one of the rich kids of Instagram.
One thing which a few people have latched on to is the fact that cuteness sells. And who is cuter than kids?
Because kids are being used to get rich, they need to be guided by adults – usually their parents. There is a moral issue here. Is using your children to make money on social media akin to Victorian parents making their kids sweep chimneys? Well, it is certainly the modern day equivalent, but it is much less harmful.
But the same could be said of the Olsen twins or Macauley Culkin who were pushed into acting from a very young age. Let’s not pretend that the parents of these kids – who all went on to have quite decent careers as child actors – saw anything other than dollar signs when they were signing contracts on their children’s behalf.
Parents have pushed their kids into things since the beginning of time and there are numerous stories about girls forced to take part in beauty pageants and boys forced to play sports so their parents can live vicariously through them. Is it any different if money is being made? I’m sure most parents will tell you that one of the purposes of having kids is so they have someone to look after them when they become old and infirm. By using kids to make money on social media, they can be banking enough to pay for top-notch care in their old age. In that case, it is quite shrewd.
As with anything else, it’s a matter of personal opinion. But as long as no laws are being broken and you avoid anything morally dubious, we don’t see a problem with people who push their children to become rich kids of Instagram.
There would be no point in telling you about the rich kids of Instagram if we didn’t tell you about some of the major players. Have a look at their stories and you might get some ideas of your own!
